Dream me a Flower

I haven't posted anything about the journals we started in Kelly's class last June. One thing I love about the taped journal is that its side can accommodate all the magazine images I've been collecting for ages!
So here's a simple page I finished doodling on tonite, with gel markers (Crayola and and Foohy - lucky kids who can play with this all day long :)

I'll still have to find out though how to get my scanner to capture the whole image and not cropping to regular 8x11. Oh well...

2 others unfinished pages:

The title here will say "Hello Gorgeous"

Funny how this beautifully wrapped body fits exactly between the 2 borders of camouflage tape...

Journal 912!

Sometimes it just happens... Almost at the last minute Thursday I signed up for a class at Sonora's Sanctuary Studio. And then I learned she will have one of 1000 journals for us to look at and contribute into! I've been hoping to find one of these journals for years YEAH!!!!!
Sonora was kind enough to let me bring it home to work on it.
Of course my muse did not want to collaborate much :) So I use one of my favorite theme, Asia, and since I've been doing collage all day with Kelly Kilmer (yeah! another thing I was hoping for) I try applied what I learned in this spread.
So here it is, Ode to Asia.

Stamps by Magenta, 1001stamps and ClubScrap, rice paper and joss paper from my stash, bamboo stencil by ClubScrap, Adirondack inks and my favorite Glitz Spritz "Desert Moon Cactus Gold" from Lindy's gang.

Check out more about 1000 journals here & here

Ushuaia

I really enjoyed this photo by John Flinn published in the Chronicle a year ago.
I saved it and now it's a new entry in one of my journals, adorned with Stampers's Anonymous stamps (w/ Staz-on inks) and acrylic paints from Ranger.

Her eyes (Morgan)

I got to play again!!! Since I wanted to refresh my memory about transfers, here's "her eyes".
I started with an ad from my favorite magazine, teared the eyes away and transfered them on the blank white journal page, just using Golden matte medium. And when it was set, I got my Crayola gel markers and gave them a little make-up.
The next day, looking at the rest of the page that was still desperately white, I had this vision of an oriental/Indian background. I refered to the Rouge de Garance "Voyage en Inde" papers for more inspiration, et voila!
Background paint is Ranger acrylic daubers, birds are stencils from Teesha Moore. I also used distressed and regular Adirondack ink, Sakura Glaze and Souffle, Slick Writer and Koh-I-Noor pens.

A mother's ironing ritual

A mother's ironing ritual pressed into memory forever by Cynthia Overbeck Bix.
A couple of weeks ago this article ran in the Chronicle, with 2 pictures that I instantly saved for future use in one of my collages. Yesterday at the Scrapbook Expo in Santa Clara I found a set of vintage labels called Laundry Fresh Collection. I frenetically searched my pile of discarded scrapbook papers for a bubble background, and here's the result of all these "found objects" together :)

Pages are distressed with Antique Linen, Old Paper and Vintage Photo. Font is Ma Vinci's Playful Heart inked with Nick Bantock's Prussian Blue.

You can read the article here.

Fragile Ship to Eternity

I just discovered the Heidi Swapp masks!
For this journal spread I used the vine mask and sprayed Adirondack Denim Colorwash. The background was made of dictionary pages distressed and stained with Tea Dye.
Almost hidden on the page is the quote "fragile Ship to Eternity" which refers to the beauty of the vintage lady from alteredpages.com

Leonardo

Here's the latest collage in one of my journals. The Mona/Leonardo image is actually an ad for a Discovery Channel program on the "Da Vinci code".
Stamps from Sunday International, inks from Ranger and Stewart Superior. The background is done with Luna Ligths "Aurora Teal", "Meteor Moss" and "Cosmic Copper".

Paints are a mix of acrylics and Luna Lights

Anges

My take on a page of Toni Morrison's "Paradise" (that I still haven't read, shame on me!). The full text is no longer legible with all the markers on it, but one can still read about a lost baby.
Hum, I have some strange ideas sometimes...

The background is a old paper page glued on my journal, then part of the text has been peeled off with masking tape, like Claudine Hellmuth describes it in Collage Discovery Workshop

Ce que dure les roses...

The last guests we had for diner brought us some beautiful orchids. Alas! How quickly did they wither and die!
I had a plain purple page waiting for them in my journal. Let's hope there will be no more decay now that they are encased in gel medium!
On top of them a print-out on acetate of a Laelia anceps alba colored on the back with Neocolor II, Lyra and Aquastic crayons. And a bit of Perfect Peal for the shine :)
Background stamp on the left is from StampFrancisco, fonts are Club Scrap Egyptian & Weather. (text in Adirondack Acrylic Cranberry & Sakura Glaze gel pens)

Vanity

Double spread in one of my journals. The original picture was taken in Venice, during a Biennale in the Giardini.

The red photo has been immerged in water for 30 sec. then distressed with sand paper and a awl.
The blue photo has been brushed with a mix of bleach and water, then distressed also.
After that, I played with wax crayons, prismacolor pencils, foohy markers, and acrylic raw umber paint.

The sayings are stamped: "Vanity" (Ma Vinci font), "altered soul" and "inner vision" (PostModern Design), "Der Tod, der Tod" (various small alphabets) and hand written "Do you love yourself to death?" :)
